Time1 hour
Yield36 cookies
Ingredients
1 Cup Softened Butter (Or butter alternative)
1 & 1/2 Cup White Sugar
2 Large Eggs (Or 6 Tbsp Just Egg)
2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
2 & 3/4 Cup Flour
1 & 1/2 Tsp Cream of Tartar
1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Tsp Salt
Cinnamon Mixture:
1/2 Cup White Sugar
3 Tbsp Cinnamon
Optional:
Purple Food Dye
Steps
Preheat Oven to 350 degrees F
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and creamy. I recommend using a blender for this! Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add in eggs and vanilla. Cream together for 1-2 more minutes, until fluffy and combined.
Stir in the rest of the ingredients (Minus the cinnamon mixture)
In another bowl combine the cinnamon and sugar
Chill the cookie dough for 20-30 minutes. DO NOT skip this step, it will help to form the snake shapes later on if the dough is cold
Take a ball of dough and roll gently between your hands, or on a nonstick surface, until you form a long string of dough. If the dough is too warm it will fall apart.
Roll dough strings in the cinnamon sugar mixture until thoroughly coated. Place the string on a cookie sheet, take one end of the dough and curl into a swirl shape making sure to leave a bit of dough at the end. Pinch the dough to create the "neck" of the snake and lightly flatten below to create the "head". Be careful not to flatten too much or it will cook too quickly and might burn.
Bake for 9-11 minutes depending on your oven (mine cooked for 9 and were perfect). Let the cookies cool for a couple minutes before trying to remove them from the pan.
Optional:
Add eyes to your snakes! Using the purple food dye and a toothpick, carefully dot 2 eyes onto your snakes heads. Have fun with it!
