At step 1, before kneading, move about 1/3 of the dough into a separate mixing bowl. Add enough black cocoa powder to achieve the color you want. (I didn't measure). I also added a drop or two of black gel food color.
At step 2, separate the black dough into two sections, and separate the orange dough into four sections.
At step 3, place the colored strands in the following order before braiding: 1 orange, 1 black, 3 orange, 1 black.
At step 8, add poppy seeds and sugar crystals (I used Sugar in the Raw).
