Recipe of Kiwi Apple Chutney by Joey B

Ingredients

  • 7 Kiwifruit; peeled and chopped
  • 2 Apples; cored, peeled and chopped, sweet variety best
  • 3/4 cup fine chopped onion
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup golden raisins
  • 2 cloves crushed garlic
  • 1 tsp minced fresh ginger
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon & mustard seed
  • 1/4 tsp cloves, nutmeg, cayenne pepper & salt

Steps

  1. Add fruits, onion, garlic & ginger to sugars/ vinegar and bring to a full boil. Continue uncovered for 25 minutes while stirring frequently so it does not burn to bottom of saucepan.
  2. Fruit should be tender. I often use a potato masher to break down heavy chunks. Enjoy the aroma of cooking fruits.
  3. Add spices and boil at a lower temperature for a few more minutes.
  4. Spoon into small jelly jars and process as normal canning.
