Ingredients

  • 2 quarts milk
  • 2 tablespoons homemade yogurt for starter

Steps

  1. Pour milk into a heavy-duty pot to heat on the stove.
  2. Let the temperature reach 170-180 degrees F after you stir it. Hold the yogurt at this temp for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Remove milk from heat source and remove skin from surface.
  4. Allow the milk to cool. Add cooled milk to 2 tablespoons yogurt and stir until it is smooth. Add this with the milk and whisk until smooth.
  5. Cover the milk and place in a warm environment (100-110 degrees F). Allow it to incubate for around 8 hours.
  6. Chill, or strain it to make a thicker yogurt.
